something corporate

Hailing from Orange County, California, Something Corporate is a self-described piano rock band formed in 1998. Two years later they released a demo CD entitled Ready... Break, which caught the attention of Drive-Thru Records. Shortly after, original member Reuben Hernandez left the band and was replaced by William Tell.

In late 2001, the band released the album Audioboxer on Drive-Thru Records. Following numerous in-store appearances, tours and television appearances in support of the record (which included the single "iF U C Jordan"), the band moved to MCA Records (which later merged wtih Geffen Records). Their first full-length major-label album, Leaving Through the Window was released in May 2002, gaining much praise from both fans and critics. Leaving Through the Window spawned the singles "I Woke Up in a Car" and "Punk Rock Princess", leading the album to reach #101 on the Billboard albums chart (US).

Their second album, North, was released in October of 2003, debuting at #24 on the Billboard albums chart (US). "Space" was the only song on the album to be released as a single.

After relentless touring to support North, the band took a break in mid-2004, shortly after William Tell left the band to pursue other work. While the band has been on hiatus, lead singer Andrew McMahon released an album, Everything in Transit, under the name Jack's Mannequin and lead guitarist Josh Partington released a five-track EP with his side-band Firescape. As of yet, there are no dates for a new Something Corporate record, though the band promises their hiatus is not permanent.
